Job Summary

DTE Energy Company is seeking a high achieving professional to join our Trading Risk Management team. This high profile team engages and supports all DTE Energy’s power, gas and coal trading and energy merchant business units to manage and control risks associated with the commodity markets, counterparty credit, and positional contracts. Organizational responsibilities include the following:

  • Valuation and presentation of our energy portfolio exposure (natural gas, electric power, coal, emissions, foreign currency exchange, carbon, and crude oil)

  • Quantitative and qualitative risk identification and analysis

  • Options modeling to support business solutions

  • Forward price curves generation

  • Deal modeling

  • Compliance and credit exposure monitoring

  • Trading company risk operations

  • Report risk exposures and controls to Board and executive management

Key Accountabilities:

  • Execute daily processes including portfolio valuation, positions, MTM, value-at-risk, daily P&L, and report distributions.

  • Manage static data within the risk management system including forward energy price curves, interest rates, historical price data, FX rates, and option implied volatilies.

  • Prepares and issues P&L and other daily risk reports.

  • Makes VBA and SQL coding changes to spreadsheets and database queries.

  • Maintain metric data over key processes.

  • Utilize continuous improvement methodologies and techniques to improve quality, delivery and efficiency of assigned work task and processes.

  • Manage special projects, research issues, develop recommendations and implement solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in a business discipline, math, engineering, science or quantitative discipline.

  • Must have at least one (1) year of business experience.

  • Expert knowledge of software systems in particular Microsoft Excel and databases.

  • Strong Preference for VBA/SQL coding experience.

  • Good analytical skills.

  • Good communication skills and be able to interact with traders, back office, accounting, tax and outside counterparties.

  • Must be reliable and willing to accept responsibility for assigned tasks.

  • Overtime may be required at times.

  • Desirable to have knowledge of general commercial transactions, energy or financial markets derivatives, business and/or accounting.

  • Experience with the Openlink Endur trading and risk management system is helpful.

  • Dedication to complete daily reporting requirements is imperative.
