Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Entry-level engineer responsible for routine, technical work requiring the standard application of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Projects and tasks are accomplished under direct supervision; typically receives substantial guidance from more experienced (senior- or ‘lead-type’) engineers as the incumbent develops subject matter expertise. Judgment is limited to preliminary selections of engineering alternatives. Primary accountabilities may vary (depending on the discipline or organization).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Under the supervision or guidance of experienced or senior-level engineers, monitor electrical system performance; frame engineering problems; perform or participates in engineering studies, services, and propose potential solutions that ensure compliance with Company standards, specifications, and contract requirements. Participates in presentations of engineering-related projects to all levels of management and external parties (contractors, customers, etc.).

  • Assist in the investigation of new technologies, materials and equipment consistent with applicable safety, system reliability, performance and cost considerations.

  • Work collaboratively in cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement (CI) initiatives and goals.

  • Use engineering skills and techniques to develop models and analyze data in order to recommend solutions and improvements in programs and techniques.

  • Initiate new ideas and approaches; challenge prevailing practices and approach with reasonably sound alternatives.

  • Support the provision of engineering input in process and CI teams and initiatives.

  • Participate in the preparation of plans, specifications, work instructions and cost estimates for projects requiring engineering services

Qualifications

MINIMUM:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering.

  • No professional-level engineering experience is required.

  • Individuals who will be obtaining their degree within 1 year from submitting interest will be considered; however, verification of the degree will be required prior to starting in the job.

  • May require initial or periodic drug or fitness-for-duty testing, the ability to report to different locations.

  • Incumbents are responsible for their own transportation.

PREFERRED:

  • Basic proficiency in computer applications/software applicable to the relevant area.

  • Proficient verbal, written and presentation skills; communicates clearly, with credibility and confidence; extensive ‘active listening’ skills.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions for various situations.

  • Flexible and the ability to work with shifting priorities; embrace new/evolving responsibilities; balances multiple demands from different parties in a positive and even-handed fashion; displays a calm demeanor under pressure.

  • Competent in “multi-tasking” (i.e. the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, issues or projects that may include high-visibility initiatives and require innovation, teamwork and planning).

  • Initiates new ideas and approaches; challenges prevailing practices and approaches with reasonably sound alternatives.
