Job Summary:

Job Summary Responsible for direct supervision of employees 3-15 to assure that this Nuclear Generation Program Chemistry, Environmental Health, Radiation Protection, or Radwaste is implemented in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, and effectively supports company and business unit strategic objectives.


  • Assures compliance with federal and state regulations NRC, OSHA, EPA, DOT, MDEQ and company and site programs and license requirements, policies, practices and records retention.

  • Directly responsible for workplace safety of employees, involving job safety analysis, pre-job briefings, PPE use, accident and injury reporting, and the conduct of safety meetings and human performance stand-downs.

  • Guides the implementation of process improvements or corrective actions to resolve identified deficiencies.

  • Manages and controls costs and staffing within approved budgets; Directs activities to minimize waste and inefficiencies; Promotes teamwork and opportunities to maximize continuous improvement.

  • Monitors industry issues and benchmarks to minimize the impact of emergent issues or evolving standards.

  • Observes and evaluates work group performance, problems, and issues, and provides recommendations to department management for changes to work group and department policies, practices, methods, or processes.

  • Supports the achievement of company, plant, and personnel safety and environmental goals.


Posting Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED. Associate's degree or completion of a training & qualification program in the discipline Rad Protection/Health Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Health/Science or licenses/certifications preferred.

  • Four years of experience in the discipline to comply with Nuclear regulatory requirements.

  • Monitors and organizes work group activities to achieve business plan targets and measures, and assured regulatory compliance; Prioritize tasks, overcomes obstacles, accepts accountability, and achieves high standards for ALARA, quality, safety, error/incident-free human performance, and timely results.

  • Exhibits flexibility and open-mindedness with a team focus, encouraging feedback and providing recognition.

  • Applies systematic decision-making; Monitors expenditures to targeted budgets; Demonstrates job knowledge and leadership necessary to help resolve critical issues; Administers contracts for personnel and services.
