Responsible for providing legal counsel regarding complex corporate and project matters; drafting and negotiating contracts and agreements; overall compliance with federal and state laws and regulations; and other activities in which the Company is involved.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
Providing legal advice for activities in which the Company is involved.
Participation in the development, structuring and implementation of business transactions.
Participation in the development and implementation of regulatory structures and compliance plans under the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission and Department of Homeland Security and other relevant statutes for energy commodity transactions.
Drafting and negotiating contracts, agreements and other documents in connection with energy commodity transactions.
Monitor and advise on the overall compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*
Juris Doctor or equivalent degree from an accredited law school.
Minimum of ten years experience in a transactional practice.
Experience in the electric or gas industry preferred – specifically the drafting and negotiation of ISDA, NAESB or EEI contracts.
Experience in regulatory matters pertaining to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission and Department of Homeland Security (Customs) preferred.
