Natural Gas Market Analyst
Location: Houston, Texas
Responsible for and/or contributes to the wide range of activities required to originate and support delivery of wholesale for retail power obligations.
Has familiarity with energy transactions and modeling in risk systems.
Performs end-of-day P&L analysis for reporting expected performance. Monitors Preliminary Daily P&L Report from risk systems and explains differences through problem recognition and resolution with risk system personnel prior to issuance of the Final Daily P&L Report.
Uses or establishes tracking systems and methods for analysis of positions. Tracks and analyses end-of-month close-out-adjustments, return of reserves, and other adjustments throughout the month/year. Coordinates and prepares consolidated monthly financial statements to describe the performance by book and for the portfolio of deals. Analyses operational performance, compares actual to target, and reports/makes recommendations for revised operational forecasts.
Fills out trade tickets and documentation for new deals, and enters or coordinates their entry into risk reporting systems. Completes daily ticket updates required for P&L stability.
Develops analytical tools to improve management and financial optimization of deals. Has knowledge of process automation methods applicable to deals in risk systems and in the ISO/RTO environment. Creates and automates analytical tools applicable to transactions and associated trading activities.
BS in finance, economics, or engineering. Equivalent experience will be considered.
Demonstrated strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
Must communicate effectively, able to influence and build relationships as a participant in a team environment.
Works under general supervision, is self-motivated and proactive.
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint.
One year of experience in an energy trading environment with exposure to accounting rules for retail transactions.
Working knowledge of ISO/RTO systems for wholesale/retail transactions.
Working knowledge of financial and risk systems and exposure to Endur and Oati Web Trader systems.
